Constructions that meet it
- Halogen-free low-smoke compounds: changes no layer: a property of the sheath compound. Halogen-free low-smoke compounds for sheath, bedding, fillers (and insulation) (LSZH / SHF1 / SHF2). Drawbacks: Every non-metallic layer contributes.

Tests
- IEC 61034-1 / -2 (3 m cube): light transmittance during burning. Pass: minimum 60 % light transmittance (Draka datasheet); EN 45545-2 R15: HL1 ≥ 25 %, HL2 ≥ 50 %, HL3 ≥ 70 %; R16: HL2 ≥ 25 %, HL3 ≥ 50 %
How specifications state it
'Low smoke acc. to IEC 61034-2, light transmittance ≥ 60 %' (the limit comes from the referencing specification).
Where it is asked for
- public buildings
- tunnels and metro
- ships and offshore
- rolling stock
- data centres
