Privacy policy
thecablecode.com and kablokodu.com work without accounts, without tracking cookies and without advertising profiles. This page says exactly what is stored, why, and for how long.
Who is responsible
The site is run by Ayhan Güngör, an individual based in Istanbul, Türkiye, who is the data controller for the information below. To ask anything about your data, write to [email protected].
When you decode a cable
We store the designation you typed, whether it decoded, your country and the date. The country comes from the country code our network provider (Cloudflare) attaches to each request; we do not store your IP address, your city or your location with it.
We use these records to improve the decoder (which designations fail, which coding systems people need) and, as totals per region, to price sponsorships. We keep them indefinitely, because they contain nothing that identifies you.
The feedback form
If you answer "Did you find what you were looking for?" we store your answer, the topic you chose, any text you write, the designation it was about and your country. Please do not put personal details in the text unless you want us to reply to them.
Sponsored spots
When a sponsored spot is shown or clicked, we add one to that sponsorship's view or click total. Nothing about you is recorded: no cookie, no identifier, no IP address. A click passes through our own short redirect to the sponsor's website, whose own privacy policy then applies.
Which sponsorships you see depends only on your country (from the same Cloudflare country code), never on a profile.
Cookies and storage
The site sets no cookies and uses no tracking technology. It does not store anything in your browser to recognise you.
Server logs and our providers
Like any website, our web server records each request (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) to keep the site secure and to fix errors. These logs are deleted after 14 days.
The site runs on a server rented from Hetzner Online. Cloudflare delivers it and protects it from attacks; it processes your requests, including your IP address, for that purpose under its own privacy terms, and gives us only aggregate, cookie-free traffic statistics.
If you buy a sponsorship
We store what you enter in the order form: your email address, company name, purchase order number, the image, text and link of your sponsorship, the slot, region and billing period, the time you accepted the sponsorship terms, and the sponsorship's view and click totals. To stop abuse of the form we also keep a one-way code made from your IP address, which changes every day and cannot be turned back into the address.
Payment is handled by our payment provider (Creem), which acts as the seller of record, takes your payment details and issues the receipt; we never see your card details. Creem tells us whether a payment succeeded and the subscription period, together with your order reference and email address.
We use this information to run your sponsorship, to contact you about it and to meet tax and accounting duties. We keep it while the sponsorship runs and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
Under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, No. 6698) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Write to [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) or to the data protection authority of your country.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we update this page and its date.
