3D cable engine

The 3D cross-section and the to-scale 2D drawing behind this site's designer, as one JavaScript file you put in your own software. For cable design software firms, and for manufacturers who want every product page and datasheet to show the cable in 3D. White-label with the Standard licence: our name appears nowhere.

Live demo. "Exemplar CableCAD" is a made-up product; everything around the drawing is the host's page, and only the framed drawing is the licensed engine.

The live demo needs JavaScript.

What it does

  • 3D view of the cable, to scale, each layer stripped back a little further than the one under it; wire screens and wire armour are drawn wire by wire.
  • 2D cross-section to scale with the overall diameter, exported as SVG for reports and quotations.
  • Layer list with the thickness and the diameter over each layer; one layer highlights together in the list, in 3D and in 2D.
  • GLB export of the 3D model for presentations and the web.
  • Your numbers win: a thickness your software has calculated is drawn exactly as given; layers you leave open are sized to IEC 60502-1 / 60502-2 and IEC 60228.
  • Your look: colours, font and layer names follow your product through CSS custom properties. English and Turkish built in.

Integration in a few lines

One element, one call. Your own buttons drive it through a small API (setDesign, setView, highlight, exportSvg, exportGlb, dimensions).

<div id="cable" style="height: 520px"></div>
<script src="cable-viewer.js"></script>
<script>
  const viewer = CableViewer.mount(document.getElementById('cable'), {
    design: myDesign, // your design as JSON
    view: 'both',              // '3d' | '2d' | 'both'
  });
  viewer.setDesign(otherDesign); // when your user changes the cable
</script>

Your customers' designs never leave your product

The engine makes no server calls, sets no cookies and has no tracking. It runs inside your page, works offline, and draws inside a shadow root so your styles and ours never mix.

Current limits, stated plainly

  • Dimensions are IEC nominal calculations, not a manufacturer's data. Values you calculate yourself are drawn as given.
  • Round conductors only in this version; sector-shaped conductors are on the roadmap.
  • The 3D view needs WebGL; the 2D section and the layer list work without it.
Viewer, one product: from €4,900 a year

Excluding VAT. Larger scopes, the sizing engine, exports and manufacturer licences for product pages are quoted separately; after a short call we send a written offer with a private demo in your own brand.

Compliance check

A datasheet or a tender offer, checked against the standard you choose. The answer is a deviation list: every requirement the standard sets for that cable, the value it asks for, the value the document gives, and the clause it comes from.

  • Checks insulation, sheath and conductor requirements against IEC 60502-1, IEC 60502-2, IEC 60228 and HD 603, with more rule sets in progress.
  • Every row names its clause and table, so a reviewer can open the standard and see the same number.
  • Rows it cannot check are shown as "not checkable" with the reason (a value the document does not declare, a voltage outside the standard's range), never hidden or guessed.
  • It is a review aid, not a certificate. It does not replace type tests or a notified body.

One real row

From a manufacturer's type test report for N2XSY 1x240 1.8/3 kV (XLPE insulation, copper conductor).

RequirementClauseRequiredDeclaredResult
Insulation thickness, nominalIEC 60502-1, Table 62.0 mm1.5 mmDeviates

The report states a 1.5 mm nominal; for 240 mm² at 1.8/3 kV the standard asks for 2.0 mm.

Who it is for

  • Utilities and EPC contractors evaluating tender offers.
  • Consultants who review cable datasheets for their clients.
  • Cable makers checking a datasheet before it goes into a tender.
