Constructions that meet it

  • Compounds chosen for the declared class: changes no layer: a property of the sheath compound. Compound choice and non-metallic volume reduction to reach the class (LSZH / FR compounds). Drawbacks: Only the maker's tests and DoP give the class.

Tests

  • EN 50575 + EN 13501-6:2018+A1:2022; tests EN 50399 (heat release, flame spread, smoke, droplets), EN 60332-1-2, EN 61034-2, EN 60754-2: classes Aca, B1ca, B2ca, Cca, Dca, Eca, Fca; s1 (s1a, s1b), s2, s3; d0, d1, d2; a1, a2, a3. Pass: Example limits quoted by a lab: B2ca FS ≤ 1.75 m, THR1200 ≤ 15 MJ, PHRR ≤ 30 kW, FIGRA ≤ 150 W/s; B1ca THR ≤ 10 MJ, PHRR ≤ 20 kW, FIGRA ≤ 120 W/s. s1 TSP and a1 limits not confirmed in a source read.

How specifications state it

Written as the full class, e.g. 'Cca-s1b,d1,a1' (Prysmian: escape routes), 'Dca-s2,d2,a2', backed by the maker's DoP.

Where it is asked for

  • all cables permanently installed in EU buildings
  • national rules set the class per building type
