Ozone resistance
Rubber insulations and sheaths do not crack in ozone (outdoors, near electrical discharge).

Constructions that meet it
- Ozone-resistant compound: changes no layer: a property of the sheath compound. Ozone-resistant rubber or cross-linked compound for insulation and sheath (EPR, EM2 (polychloroprene), CPE, cross-linked polyolefin). Drawbacks: Compound property only.

Tests
- IEC 60811-403:2012: ozone resistance test on cross-linked compounds. Pass: no cracks (concentration and time set by the product standard; values not read)
- IEC 60502-2:2014 clause 19.12: ozone resistance test for EPR and HEPR insulations. Pass: not read
- EN 50396 test method B: ozone test cited by Lapp (ÖLFLEX ROBUST, H1Z2Z2-K). Pass: not found
In the base standard for some designs: IEC 60502-2:2014 clause 19.12, ozone resistance test for EPR and HEPR insulations.
How specifications state it
Required for rubber (EPR, HEPR, EM2) materials; usually stated as 'ozone resistant acc. to EN 50396 / IEC 60811-403'.
Where it is asked for
- outdoor rubber cables
- PV cables
- MV EPR cables
- offshore
