Constructions that meet it
- Fungus resistant (fungicide in the compound): changes no layer: a property of the sheath compound. Fungicide or non-nutrient formulation of sheath and fillers (compound with fungicide; non-hygroscopic fillers). Drawbacks: Compound property; biocide restrictions (REACH) apply.

Tests
- IEC TR 63484:2024: guidance on fungus resistance of optical fibre cables: test method and evaluation for sheath and inner components. Pass: guidance, not a pass value
- IEC 60068-2-10: mould growth test (the usual reference for 'fungus resistant'; not confirmed in a cable datasheet read). Pass: not found
How specifications state it
Mostly in words ('tropicalised', 'fungus resistant'); a technical report exists for optical cables.
Where it is asked for
- tropical projects
- military and defence
- telecom in humid climates
