Constructions that meet it
- Qualified radiation-resistant compounds: changes no layer: a property of the insulation compound. Qualified radiation-resistant compounds (XLPE, EPR, halogen-free) with qualification file (qualified XLPE / EPR). Drawbacks: Qualification cost and time; no change in look.

Tests
- IEC/IEEE 60780-323:2016: qualification of safety-related equipment: thermal ageing, radiation, accident simulation. Pass: plant-specific
- IEEE 383-2023: applies 60780-323 to cables and splices. Pass: plant-specific
How specifications state it
Doses are plant-specific; reports quote e.g. 1500 kGy accident dose at 7.5 kGy/h after 500 kGy ageing (Wyle test of Okonite cable).
Where it is asked for
- nuclear power plants (safety class 1E)
