SEU 8-8-8 AL 600 V
Nominal calculation, not one manufacturer's datasheet. The conductors are compact aluminium as Southwire prints them; the XLPE walls are Southwire's, the neutral's wire count is Priority Wire's, and the jacket is fitted to six makers' diameters, because UL 854 was not read. Check the datasheet before you specify or order.
By NEC Table 8 and the makers' walls, SEU 8-8-8 AL 600 V comes to about 14.8 × 9.8 mm (width × thickness) and a weight of about 160 kg/km.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Insulation | XLPE | 0.79 | 5.0 (on each core) | SEU conductor XLPE insulation: 21 mil at 10 AWG, 31 at 8 and 6, 45 at 4 to 2, 55 from 1 AWG (Southwire SPEC 10050 / 10051; UL 854 not read) | maker catalogue value, standard text not read |
| 2 | Wire screen | Aluminium | 8 wires of 1.15 mm, 8.367 mm² | 7.3 | SEU concentric neutral: bare wires, as many as Priority Wire prints, their diameter from the neutral's area | maker catalogue value, standard text not read |

SEU is the UL 854 service entrance cable, style U, of NEC Article 338: two XLPE (XHHW-2) conductors laid flat side by side, a concentric neutral of bare aluminium wires helically over them, a binder tape and a gray PVC jacket, so the cable is oval. Aluminium AA-8000, compact stranded. Checked against Southwire, Encore, Priority Wire, Cerrowire, General Cable and Alan Wire: research/designer-americas/ser.md and flat-more.md in the site repository.

Each layer's cross-section times its density; stranded conductors, laid-up cores and helical wires count 2 % longer than the cable. Densities: copper 8.89 and aluminium 2.703 g/cm³ (the values of IEC 60028 and IEC 60889); XLPE 0.92, PE 0.94, PVC 1.45, semicon 1.12, steel 7.85 g/cm³ (usual compound values).
Laying, sizes and datasheet: SEU 8-8-8 AL 600 V
SEU 8-8-8 AL 600 V belongs to the family North American cables: the lowest laying temperature, bending radius, pulling, depth, drum handling and the test after laying, every rule with its sources. Laying and handling guide: North American cables
Its sizes are in AWG and kcmil, which are not the same as the nearest mm²: compare them by area and by resistance. AWG to mm²
