BS 6004 / BS 6500 / BS 7211 type numbers (UK)

Symbol	Meaning
`218`	Light duty circular flexible cord, PVC, 300/300 V
`3`	Number of cores: 3
`Y`	PVC insulation and PVC sheath
`2183Y`	2183Y: light duty 3 core circular PVC flexible cord (the UK number of H03VV-F). 300/300 V, 70 C maximum (Clynder). BS EN 50525-2-11 (formerly BS 6500); harmonised H03VV-F (Clynder 218-Y)

Fire behaviour (EU CPR)

PVC sheath (Y).
Typically targeted, as declared by makers for this kind of construction in the examples this site checked (not the class of this cable):
- Eca N1XV-R, Ahlsell (seller)
- Cca-s3,d1,a3 FG16OR16, Nexans (La Triveneta Cavi)
- Eca U1000 R2V, Nexans (La Triveneta Cavi)
- Eca N2XSY, Waskönig+Walter (10 kV datasheet)
Listed as sources, alphabetically by maker. No maker pays to appear here.

A CPR class is declared by the maker in its Declaration of Performance and printed on the sheath (EN 50575 cl 7). This decoder does not assign one. What the CPR classes mean →

2183Y as the cable designer builds it, 3x0.75 300/300 V

Overall diameter 5.7 mm, about 50 kg/km. Nominal values from the standard's tables for this size, computed, not a maker's data.

Layer	Material	Thickness, mm	Over the layer, mm
Insulation	PVC	0.50	2.1
Filler	PVC 4.5
Sheath	PVC	0.60	5.7

2183Y on a drum

The smallest drum that passes every check, for 5.7 mm and about 50 kg/km as the cable designer builds it. Drums as their makers print them; lengths are estimates within a few per cent of the cable makers' own tables: whole layers, wound diameter 1.05 × OD, 50 mm freeboard under the flange rim.

Length	Drum size (its makers)	Layers	Gross weight
500 m	KTG 3 (390 mm flange), plastic KTG drums (Europe), KTG	12 of 13	27 kg
1,000 m	KTG 5 (500 mm flange), plastic KTG drums (Europe), Bayka, KTG	19 of 20	53–54 kg

Barrel at least 12 × OD = 69 mm for a cable of this kind (Flexible cable (class 5 or 6 conductor)): KTG table, the cable's datasheet wins. A load rating is the drum maker's own.
